Clearly we have a major toy/pram evacuation incident here.

If you think trying to stop you looking silly is taking the piss then
maybe you should reevaluate what was said.

Whether you like it or not, using URLs with \\ instead of // is
incorrect. If you were to submit documentation with incorrect URLs, all
that will happen is you will get emails saying 'that URL is incorrect'.
People may also think you are ignorant and an Internet newbie for using
\\, which couldn't be further from the truth.
