could you not use a simple di box, like the ones you
use in recording studios. You van get them in racks
mounted versions too. I am sure that converts
a line level unbalanced to balanced xlr

you can pick them up pretty cheaply too

Keith can do special audio only modules - 4 audio one way, 2 audio in each
direction, 1 and 3 etc.....
