Unlikely to be RJ11 power on a phone, too much risk that someone will plug the power into the line socket (as most phones use RJ11 for phone as per american standard)

The connector is an RJ11 ... not an RJ45.

You should be able to get an RJ11 to RJ11 extension cable off the shelf from any phone shop...

Subject: [ukha_d] Power Adapter cord length extension

Hi All – I wonder if you can offer some advice

I have a Phillips DECT phone. The AC adapter (I guess what you guys refer to as a wall wart??) has a standard RJ45 connector at the end of the cable. The RJ45 connector plugs into the base station to provide power.

I’d like to extend the power cable so that I can run it in some trunking and keep it tidy. Of the eight pins on the connector, only the outside four are wired. The middle four are not wired.

The way I see it I can build some kind of extension keeping the original intact, or lob off the connector (taking note of the pin-outs) and connect some sort extension cable. I’ve done some CAT5 crimping and have the required crimping tools.

Any advice? Will the power run over std CAT5?

Thanks

Eric
