Have to sympathize with you on this one.  The problem is that all of the X10 modules look, in my opinion horrible - with the exception of the WS10 mains socket, mini timer and IR converter. So as you say you are then left pulling cables through for momentary switches and hiding modules - again less than ideal unless you are planning on rewiring or redecorating.

The only suggestion I have is that if you can get away with lifting a few floorboards and retro fitting then the results are definitely worth while - the AWM2 are so small they are much easier to hide.

As for the curtains I have no idea how you can accomplish this one if you get an answer I would love to know as would like to do the same.

I've persuaded SWMBO that X10 is a good idea in our new house (exchange
tomorrow!).  I said we could just change the light switches to allow X10
control.  She did not approve when she saw the switches.  What other options
do I have without extensive rewiring?  I'd like to be able to just replace a
unit and gain X10 control, any ideas?  It's a victorian house with period
features if visible units need replacing.

Also, I discussed having X10 control of curtains.  Whilst she liked the
idea, she hates curtain rails, and will not have anything other than a
curtain pole.  She won't budge on this one.  Any ideas of how to get round
this one without a weekend in Paris?

Andy (struggling to install ha-swmbo v1 patch)
