Depends which distribuition you're after.  http://www.linux.org lists a good
number of distros.  I'd recommend Debian, but thet's my personal opinion.
Each user prefers a different distro.

What do you mean by interface?  They all use TCP/IP, and samba does NetBIOS
for Linux.
