Hi

QED System line 4.4 has a RRP of =A32600 for the controller alone. Keypads<= BR> are arround =A3100 a time for the basic units. You will also need speakers<= BR> and source components. There is also an optional addtional power
amplifier for more demanding zones which is around =A3800.

Many Thanks

I'm having a full Polaron lighting system installed in my new house. The whole house audio side of things is basically QED systemline. It isn't
available direct to retail customers yet, but I was speaking to their
sales manager and he would be interested in selling his stuff through
someone like LetsAutomate.com

They do make them themselves, and they work off a custom RS485 protocol
plus a 24V supply.

An 8 channel dimmer pack rated at 5A per channel would set you back in
the order of 800 quid. No idea how much the audio side of things costs - the panels interface directly into the systemline controllers. Not
really at the DIY end of the price scale.

like that be ?? - anyone any idea's ? - all I'd want would be two rooms
(downstairs)....

Thanks in advance.

Jonathan.

Hi Jonathon

I to have been on this quest but without much joy. So if anyone out
there has some good suggestions: bring em on!

So far I have concluded that the only real solution would be to use:

A custom made or proprietary (I.e Leopard.) touch screen. You could use
ACE or one of the other PC control packages for the interface.
An IR based unit such as the SMART pads from Xantech. (Very customisable in terms of buttons.)

Both of these are expensive though. I still LOVE the wall panels
supplied by Polaron lighting I know they work off RS232, if we could
find their supplier (As I'm certain they don't make them as I've seen
them used in other bespoke systems.) and someone could write the
interface between them and say Comfort/HomeVision then that would be one hell of a bulk buy...come on Tony our resident bulk buy pimp!

As your talking about keypads, is there anyway that these can be
interfaced
into a pc ?? - as I think they look quite neat...

Or does anyone do a type of keypad that can be interfaced to a pc ?

Whatabout any form of wall-mounted display / button thing so the volume
/
source can be changed without using the remote ?

Any idea's / url's welcome ..

Jonathan "still learning..."

Yep I noticed the similarities with the Russound keypads. They tell me
though that this is where the similarities end!

Rob,

I feared as much regarding pricing - out of my league :-(  . Is is a "Russound" product as they appear to use the same name for their = keypads
i.e. "A-Bus".

It looks like the "Kustom" system will remain at the top of my li= st for
now,
even if the keypads aren't as pretty.

Cheers,

Tim H.

Hi

I had a look at this a while ago before it was officially launched. Opus is actually owned by the Richer Sounds Group. Somewhere at home I have
the product brochure and pricing but it is EXPENSIVE. Getting on for
=A32500 for a 4 room system and then another =A3800+ a room. Don't forget you still then need sources and speakers. NOT cheap as I say. IMO if
you've got this much to spend have a look a QED Systemline first its as
good and more established. However the wall panels are not as pretty I
agree.

If you want me to find that contact name and prices I can dig it out.

Many Thanks
Rob

Love it, particularly the way it looks. It seems a shame to hide it all
away.

Any idea of prices / distributors ?

Also, quoting from their site:
"To connect these components together a specially developed balanced transmission cable is used, which, unlike most multi room systems,
requires
only a single run of cable to carry audio, data and power to and from
each
zone."

Cat5 I assume. Interesting description though, perhaps a way of
attempting
to justify the price of the system ?
