IR hard wiring works fine with
Cat5
Best way to learn about the
possibilities
of IR is the Xantech
site
http://www.xantech.com/products/i_folder/i_78944.pdf
links you to their basic amplifier
work backwards through the site to learn
more
Things to remember
with
IR is:
It is like water - It only flows one
way
So bidirectional control = two circuits
TX(emitter) = two wires
(signal/earth)
RX(receiver) =three wires
(power/earth/signal)
Play with one Zone before planning
Multi-Zones
Hope this
helps

Subject: [ukha_d] Question re:
infrared
Got some questions re:
IR.
What sort of cable would I need
to
install to allow me to wire up my house for IR in the future? Since Ill be
installing network & coax to most rooms I figure I may as well do this
as
well.
In the medium term I would only
use
this to drive some modulated components in the AV room. But may extend this
in
the future if I go for Homevision (this would be located
elsewhere).
Would homerun cabling apply? Ie
in
the wiring closet could I wire various receivers from various rooms to
emitters
located in 2 locations?
