Ok, love the ascii art, but I'm starting to loose focus on the current
hardware plan.  Lots of things have been discused, RS232, RS423, IP, On Wire
etc, but I'm not sure where everything COULD fit in.  Is each display going
to join the IP network with its own address? Are we going to have a single
Controler that forms the link between all the devices and a single IP
address? Or a single PC that does all the grant work with as any RS232
points as required?

The one idea I don't like is that we will be broadcasting messages to the
whole network eg x.x.x.255, regularly for the displays to operate.  I
appreciate that this would easily allow several machines/devices with
different IP addresses to recieve and process display messages but is this
really neccessary.  I know that the size of messages should be low etc. but
thats not really the point.

In a mad attempt to try and guess the current state of play I'll try my own
bit of ascii art (DISCALIMER THIS IS PROBABLY ALL WRONG!)

I Look foward to the website that Mark mentioned, and some working protypes
on display so to speak.
