RE: Fw: maybe?

Thee was recently an item on our Intranet Newsdesk offering BT people a
chance to buy ex-BT computers from RDC.

Someone didnt quite work out the possible effects of posting the article on
an Intranet with over 100,000 users.

I think the time to bring the website down was probably measured in
seconds.
Shortly afterwards there was an addition to the article stating that the
website was having a few problems and the bandwidth was being increased :-)

I very much doubt that anyone bought anything though because the prices
were
well high :-(

We also successfully killed the 192.com website when someone posted on the
internal newsgroup about some of the info they held on people :-)

Gotta laugh...

My employer (Computacenter) _OWNS_ RDC.... we use them as our exclusive
hardware disposal resource...

"Rodney and Del-boy Computers" is what I always say what the RDC
stands
for... - having seen the numpties they send to customer sites to collect
this gear...

Some of the PC's on this list might well have been decomissioned by me!

Mind you, having seen the way they literally throw them in the back of the
lorry, I'm not sure I'd want to buy one once they've had their hands on
it... ;-)

And I'm sure half of them end up being sold straight out of the back of
said
lorry at the motorway services soon after they've picked them up... (some
very dubious looking characters I've seen walking off with PC's during some
of the upgrade projects I've worked on...)

As always, Caveat Emptor....

Paul G.

Oh, and just in case anyone's in any doubt, the opinions expressed here are
ENTIRELY MY OWN, and have nothing whatsoever to do with Computacenter...
