So what was the re-architecting they did for D2 or quake maybe? that stopped
these network problems?
I though it was that it _used_ to broadcast all this stuff everywhere and
then switched to talking directly to clients?

I had thought that it would be all just one network for the whole house and
now yes streaming audio - in the future possibly streaming video.
For 'normal' use and/or if it was a separate network then you're right -
shouldn't be a problem.
