Apparently Lacrosse WS2300 is rebadged/re-manufactured Oregon WS-
2000, which I am lead to believe uses the same protocol as the WS-
918, but reports at a different frequency. However, I don't have a 
WS2000/2300 to test against.

Since you are writing the Autom8it plug-in, I imagine you already 
know the answer to the question. Can you confirm this is correct?
