Re: OT Can't get there

OK, try this.

Do Start, Run, and then type in

    telnet 216.119.81.247 80

And bash enter.  A telnet window should appear, without any error
popup messages.  Then, into the telnet window type

    GET /

and bash enter, and you should be rewarded with screenfuls of
gobbledgook.  Telnet will then disconnect, popping up a dialog box.
If so, then try again replacing the IP address with the site name.
If that also works then ther is nothing wrong with your connection to
the site, or your ability to resolve names, and its a "local" problem.

If it works with address but not site, then its a DNS resolution
issue, but you've already pinged the site, so that side should be
OK.  If it is a DNS problem, open a command window, and do

    ipconfig /all more

and page your way through the resulting listing looking for DNS
servers, and then try to ping it/them.  If only one works, go to
control panel, and whizz out the non-working server as a temporary
measure 9eliminates MS TCP/IP confusion) and/or consult your ISP web
site to check they havent changed the IP addresses of their name
servers...

if theres a problem pinging them, ping the default gateway.

And treat the hostfile trick below as a temporary fix (if it works)
as  if you do it permanenrtly then you will have site docsonnectage
at some point in the future when autom8it.com changes its ISP or IP
address :-)))
