You should have a recovery cd in the package - that uses that hidden
partition.

You could always just remove it and claim back the space.

Hi all

We have a new arrival in our house today  - a new laptop........ :-)

I was supprise however that we didn't get any recovery media with it.  (it
came  from Insight, and came with XP Professional on a pre install) - Is
this now normal? - In the old days IBM used to give a recovery CD with
their
machines.

The other odd thing, is that the laptop has an unknown 1GB partition
called
IBM_Service, which cannot be accessed, I presume contains all the install
data? - any ideas how I get access to this to see what it contains?

I am keen to make a drive backup before I install anything on it, but
cannot
see how I can get to this hidden partition

Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

Daniel
