Worse than that, they have no local control and also come on in the off
state, so you would have to leave them switched on at the wall switch and
use some form of X-10 control.
If you have access to the light fitting from above, you can use AD10's
without changing the switches for on/off only. I use these where I want to
have low-energy florescent lights.
