Rob, although the "-ve" TX and RX pins of a network card are
ostensibly one
side of a balanced signal, NICs don't react badly to these pins being
grounded.

They *do* however react *very* badly to +12. :(
And yes, I do mean, with smoke and (small) flames.

I'd go for those pins ;)
