I've
just picked up the "prototype" X10 curtain controller today and am looking
forward to getting it hooked up to test it...
...the
initial "plan" is to try it out in the main bedroom with the
following:
1)
LW11G "German" X10 light switches on the two bedside
lamps.
2) His
and hers mini timers on the bedside tables.
3)
Curtain controller on Swish rail.
4) PIR
hardwired back to HomeVision.
I
see
the code working thus:
1)
After (1 hour before sunset) if the PIR triggers then the curtains are
forced
closed and the bedside lamps are turned on.
2) At
sunset the curtains are closed.
2)
Somewhere between sunset and 10:00pm the bedside lights are turned
on.
2)
Bedside lamps are turned off manually my me and the missus using the mini
timers
(as an aside the action of both lamps being turned off can also trip any
"bedtime" macros too).
3)
Movement in bedroom after "bedtime" but before the curtains are
opened triggers bedside lamps to turn on at 10% and sets a one minute
timer
running.
4)
When timer expires then the lights turn off.
5)
Movement in bedroom after 7:00 (our usual "Getting up time" is 7:30) turns
lights on low slowly brightening to full and sets up a ten minute
timer.
6) On
expiration of the timer then the lights are extinguished and the curtains
opened.
7) At
9:00am the curtains are opened anyway.
I
reckon that'll cover most things...

control
Wouldn't you rather have something that closed when you sent it
an X10 "on" and opened on an "off" and didn't need all this pratting
about with appliance modules and 240v relays?

Answered my own Question... the LDR drops from a good 800 ohms down
to about 100 ohms in daylight, and about 60 ohms with a fook off
spotlight glaring on it, so it's a pretty safe bet I would say that the
circuitry is designed to maintain a steady state of 60-100
ohms..
Just tested the gubbins with a 90ohm resistor, and the switching
works just perfect.
:)
Now, off to
Craplins....
