Thats what i thought.  I remember the rs232 spec was for 50 feet but
that was for crappy cable, some shielded stuff should double that. Its
the capacitance that limits the distance.

As far as I know serial can run over CAT5 - all you need is a Dtype
to RJ45 connector.
