Re: UPS Arrived!

Phil, not sure if this helps but every UPS I've ever had uses a special cable - a standard serial one would never normally work.  I've user Fiskars, Chloride, and I'm now on my 4th Merlin Gerrin 12kva 'la' UPS, thanks to a mental electrician friend of mine!

Hiya Geraint,

UPS arrived Friday and have had it on charge since then, now up to 100%.
Have installed Powerchute on the laptop but as soon as I plug in a
serial cable then the UPS turns off - any ideas?

It has been on overnight supplying the standby current to my projector
quite happily and I have just tried it again ... As soon as I make a
connection to my laptop then the UPS turns off (doesn't matter if the
laptop is on or off) and will not turn back on again until the serial
cable is removed.

The serial cable has worked OK on my ISDN modem, HomeVision, OnDodgy
card programmer etc.

Phil
