Courtesy of Des I am now in possession of a 2+8 PABX (complete with
Chinese English instructions!)
The house currently has 4 fixed phone points which I planned to
modify the wiring to go back to the PABX and convert the existing
slave sockets to master (expensive brass ones so I don't want to
replace them). For the other 4 lines I intended to hook them up to
the patch panel so that I can patch a phone to anywhere I want if
required and then use the RJ45 to RJ11 converters at the other end.
It has now occurred to me how do you put a ringing circuit on
these... does the RJ45 converter contain the electronics for this? or
do you have to go PABX->Master Socket x 4->patch panel->outlet-
>converter??
I know I can crimp an RJ45 onto the phone leads but I want to keep
the ability to move phones around (and I can always 'borrow'
converters from work!).
Cheers
Allan
