Re: TiVo subscription ?

Assuming that our powerhouse has these now - If I were to buy one do I HAVE to get the subscription?
Is it just a straight push on push off recorder without the sub?  Can I record something with just the date and time?

Thanks

ShowShifter automatically pads out the recording by a few minutes both at the start and at the end of the recording!!

There's the odd occasion when a recording is scheduled directly after another when the automatic padding is obviously ignored by the system.  In reality it works great.

Mark

This is a basic flaw in the system

Unlike tape you quite often schedule to record different channels straight after each other.

This must then assume that the programme info is right as the box only has this info to go on to work out whether this is possible or not

When then a broadcaster deviates from its published schedule the end or start will get truncated

The new software enables you to buffer recording timed but this will then have the negative effect of not recording say

BBC1 8:30 > 9:00

ITV 9:00 > 9:30

As the buffer would not allow the 9:00 recording with a buffer set to 5mins

A problem you must have on SS as well

This sounds like an unbelievably basic problem and one which would spoil the experience rather a lot.  Seems incredible they haven't got a fix for this yet - how long has TiVo been out in the UK - a year?

Does this problem effect the Sky Plus box too?

Thanks
