Cant give a Gamers perspective but heres a techie guess....

1. Maybe the response time of the TFT doesnt give the same flowing image as
CRT

2. Any TFT will only look Good at its NATIVE resolution, anything lower or
higher and the picture is stretched or compressed to fit the pixel
structure
and looks C*** IMHO.

Is he trying to impress his mates based on size of image, money spent on
monitor, or looks?

If its size of image then a bigger CRT can be had for a lot less money.
If its amount of money spent then buy a Plasma screen :-)
If its looks then he is putting form before function.

Just looked on eBuyer and found these.....

18.1" TFT (1280x1024)@ £765 (Phillips)

22" CRT (1920x1440) @ £502 (NEC/Mitsubishi)

Give me a CRT anytime.

Keith

Can one of you gamers give me a quick "for Dummies" explanation
of why
TFT screens aren't best suited for playing games... (or if they are,
reassure me).

My boss's son wants to buy a 19" TFT screen to impress his mates, but
his main appliation is DirectX games...
