hear hear,

I run a PC connected to my TV in the living room, - a 43"
rear-projection
set, which if anything makes the situation even worse, as the image is
quite
big. (it certainly "seems" sharper when viewed on a 32" CRT
set).

As Keith says, I run it at 800x600, and I can read the icon text on the
desktop, and the text in explorer without adjusting anything. This is via
S-video.

I found running 640x480 too awkward, - yes everything is a great deal more
legible, but there's just so little screen space! - hardly anything these
days is optimised for less than 800x600 it seems... If you really wanted to
improve the readability, you could increase the Windows font size a couple
of points...
