Sound like the Sony is leaking current to the aerial socket.
This is earthing via the aerial system and popping the trip. I assume it
only happens when the aerial lead is plugged in.

I wired up 8 coax cables to a booster in my Dads attic. Retuned his new
TV in the kitchen and it works fine. I then plugged in his 14 inch Sony
portable in the bedroom and the upstairs sockets tripped. Any ideas? I
assume that the booster is on the same ring as the upstairs sockets...
