Well it did only cost 50 quid in fairness, so not that bothered.  But still - these days you expect things to have safety shut-offs etc to preserve these things! 
Did I mention it was a LOUD ring on the phone? :)

Unlucky -- pretty crap network tester if it can't cope with 50V AC.
