Tim,

With a hub, every packet is sent to every port, with a switch, only the
packets destined for each port are seen by each port. ( Not technnically, but basically it cuts down unnecessary traffic, which you want on a wireles= s
net.)

Splitter =3D filter, understand now :)

Cheers, Des.

Difference between hub and switch please?

Splitter is the bit that you plug into the phone socket with a wires only installation. Also known as a filter

2 things

For the cost difference, go for a cheap generic 4 or 5 port switch

Whats the splitter for?

Cheers, Des.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I=92ve now arrived at a shopping list:

2xLinksys WAP11s
1xAlcatel Speedtouch 510 =96 seems to be really well supported
1xCheap generic 4 port hub (It makes sense to do it this way as the
Speedtouch only has 10BaseT ports)
One very long CAT5 cable. One very short CAT5 cable.
Splitter

Wires only contract with OneTel (so I can keep my existing email address)

I would not recommend the ASUS range to anyone now.
They have basically washed their hands as far as firmware updates are
concerned :(
Currently, the better bet appears to be the SAR 715 (about =A330 more)
which is running on Virata 8.2 (
http://www.virata.com= /Archive/isos81.html ) supports uPnP, Etc - the
ASUS range don't have the capacity for Virata 8.2

AL
