Hi Mark
Sorry i thought that Home Automator was a similar thing to Homeseer . To be quite honest once you guys start talking computer stuff in general im lost . Every body talks about web enabling things and not being very computer compliant i miss a lot. im even confused about all those gadgets you,ve mentioned . I hope Grahme and Andy dont read that post......

Frank,

I don't really understand the comparison between HomeSeer and HomeAutomator.

HomeSeer is a home automation package.

HomeAutomator is a sophisticated web control package that integrates with a bunch of devices including, but not limited to, Home Automation hardware like HomeVision. HomeAutomator is a web server that specialises in being customisable to a whole different bunch of devices - PCs, Laptops, ePods, Fujitsu Tablets, iPaqs... and does so in a way that's far more configurable to the type of device than HomeSeer.

To try to compare the two is like to compare a budget DVD player with a five-figure-price CD player. Both "play CDs", but each has a very different application, and excels in what it does.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks for your comments Shane .
It can be frustrating at times ,but its great when it "does"happen . Good to hear your also making progress .
While on the topic of  pc software any particular reason for using Mister House? Perl is a programming language? Why not HomeSeer ?
Also Home automator , I wonder why the guys decided to write Home Automator must ask.

Hi Frank,

Pleased that you are making some progress - always frustrating when that prototype doesn't do what you expect but I guess that's how we learn the most (silver lining and all that...).

Look forward to the pics.

Currently got Misterhouse talking to the Linet Controller - bit of a steep learning curve, Perl and Misterhouse, but I'm getting there.

Cheers
Shane
