No its plaster onto brick and a lath and plaster ceiling.
I'd never actually thought of plasterboard being fire resistant..but
now you mention it I suppose its not very flammable is it :)

Mm.. thinking about this if all 3 walls are plaster and brick then the
only route for the fire is through the door or up through the ceiling.
The door is an old Victorian solid pine (1" thick) one so that should
be
fairly fire resistant (20-30mins?) so if I mail 2 or 3 sheets of
plasterboard (over the top of each other) onto the ceiling I would
think
that should give me at least a 30 minute of fire containment ?
I was going to line the walls with chipboard to aid the mounting of
equipment etc but I'm concerned that this will effectively be fuel for
any potential fire.. maybe fermacell would be a better bet ? What have
other people done to mounting equipment (I'd rather not have to keep
drilling and wall plugging every time I add something)

Yes.. I had already decided on that one :)

Unfortunately the cupboard is against the dividing wall of the two
houses,
its the old pantry and has a venting hole through to a smaller cupboard
next to it which then has another venting hole into the cellar
stairwell
(presumably to try and cool the cupboard).
