RE: Streaming Video Over A LAN

Title: RE: [ukha_d] Streaming Video Over A LAN

Agreed _should_ work .... except WME 7.1 does not support the ATI card! Some incompatibility with VFW and DirectShow or something. I am persevering though and found one MSDN article and am downloading the DirectX SDK at the moment (lucky I'm on the end of a 2M at work!).

I have done this in a previous lifetime.  I used an Hauppauge WinTV card in my PC at home, taking input from my satellite receiver (modulated) and then Windows Media Encoder 7 (IIRC) to publish it.  Then opened up a port on IPCop firewall which I could then access using Windows Media Player.  The limiting factor was my ADSL upstream, but I got a decent picture in a small window on my desktop (enough to watch and listen to some daytime comedy shows :-) ).
