It may well do Mark, it may well do.  I was suggesting though that it = might
be an acceptable risk to some (buy by no means all) people.
Opening any ports at all to any machine is a risk, but one you choose to accept if you want to access your network from the outside world.
Obviously storing all your personal data, running alpha/beta software,
and/or installing loads of services on your firewall machine is likely to greatly increase the security risks associated with that machine, but
bunging on a load of MP3's and opening port 80 does not strike me as adding=
that significantly to the risks.
Again though, this is not acceptable to some people - fair enough.  Bu= t ppl
who do implement such a solution should not be held up alongside those with=
no security at all, which is pretty much what has happened in this thread.<= BR>
Can we stop now?  You at least seem level headed on the subject Mark, = others
seem more.....fanatical about it.  It's getting boring now.
