Sorry if I was not clear, I'm actually running complete new rings rather than replacing existing ones. By extra sockets I was referring to the number of holes for back boxes, not all of these will have mains, some will have cat 5 or coax.

Argos have 2 SDS drills, from reading in uk.diy (I think, do a google search on "SDS Drill" to check) the £50 drill is a Power Devil and it was suggested didn't have a good reliability  record. The JCB was £70.

Hmm.. I might go and invest the pricely some of £50 next week on one of these..

On a lighter note, when you say you put extra sockets in, did you just ‘daisy chain’ them off of the existing socket, or lay new to the consumer unit?

Ta,

Jonathan

The JCB from Argos seems to be fine, the extra speed that can be found by
using an SDS is amazing, I did my 3rd room the other weekend and put in 5
more sockets than the previous room and finished (the messy bit anyway) in
half the time.

PS a circular saw for cutting floor boards also saves a lot of time (unless
you're better at floor board lifting than me)
