    If for any reason terminal services (which I too recommend) doesn't work out you can try Timbuktu Pro http://www.netopia.com/en-us/software/products/tb2/index.html and demo download available
 
 - supports Mac as well inc Mac controlled via PC and visa versa. Not sure how it relates speedwise to PC Anywhere though - probably about the same - both have been on the market about as long.

I've been using PCAnywhere to connect to my HA W2K Server a lot
recently via wireless. Only trouble is, it's a bit on the slow side
(updating screens, cursor lag etc). Has anyone got experience of
anything faster?
