OK perhaps a dumb question BUT if the network (i.e. the one here at
work.) has a permanent connection to the net would you need a APN (which is a abrev for what>?) and why?

The Vodafone guys came to see me a while back - they were offering a
GRPS trial with 5 handsets and =A31 per MB for a few hundred quid
(corporate offer) and then about =A35000 per year I seem to remember.
This trial used a standard 'corporate' APN aparently.
