AFAIK yes it can take the 160Gb drives but it only reads a 130Gb IIRC.

I put a couple of 60Gb drives in and it's fine a little slower but not
massively so. With that I'm getting 39 hours of storage at the best
available quality which, IMO, is more then enough as I struggle to watch
a few hours of TV a week let alone almost two days worth! What it does
allow is for all the soaps and crap that SWMBO watches to be recorded
and that wins big brownie points.
