Re: How important is static IP?
2: - you do *NOT* _need_ an MX record at all to receive mail, - you
only
need an MX record if your SMTP listening server is on a different IP
address
to that which your DNS "A" record resolves... - Do an NSLOOKUP
on
paulgordon.homeip.net, you will see it resolves to 80.1.127.35 - as my
SMTP
mail server is listening to port 25 on that IP, I do NOT have (or need)
an
MX record configured.
nslookup
> set type=mx
> paulgordon.homeip.net
Server: sol
Address: 192.168.100.1
homeip.net
primary name server =
ns1.dyndns.org
responsible mail addr =
twilde.dyndns.org
serial = 2013157041
refresh = 600 (10 mins)
retry = 300 (5
mins)
expire = 604800 (7
days)
default TTL = 600 (10 mins)
Unless twilde.dyndns.org forwards email to you then some mail servers
wont
be able to find you as there are systems out there that will only send
mail
via MX record lookups (for security reasons).

Jules
