I totally agree with you and it makes perfect sense. Trouble is, I
need the computer to also record video from up to 3 cameras when
motion is detected. Even if there is software to do this on Linux
there's not guarantee it will be compatable with whatever digitising
hardware I end up buying.

If it wasn't so serious I could almost laugh that I could get burgled
because bloomin' Windows & Homeseer crashes out! :-(

It sounds like a really good package but I've never programmed in
Perl. I can do PHP or ColdFusion. :-)
