Mark,

I think that the system as it stands works very well indeed and no-one
on this group is blatantly profiteering on any of these buys. It does
take a lot of time and effort to organise and probably constitutes a
loss to the person actually organising the buy.

Anyway, almost every single one so far has been organised on the basis
that the organiser wanted the deal to happen as well and to get the
goods cheap or cheaper than they may have done with an individual order.

Personally, if there's a modest profit in it for the person willing to
take on the hassles, so be it. But IME, there is really no profit in
these things other than a beer and the goodwill given by the group,
