I'd agree 100% with this.  A lot of the recent debates have been
drawn
out way too long, and in a few cases gone beyond "peaceful
discussion".

I've been on this list for a few years, and a lot of the time (as has
happened recently) been too busy at work to take much part - or do much
automating :-)  As a result I tend to just delete entire threads if
I
don't think they're interesting, so I could be missing useful
information just because I don't have time to dig for it.

My best advice is to read everything through twice, with a five minute
gap between, before posting it.  I often do that on usenet, and
very
often end up not posting at all, or at least reduce or moderate my
reply.

This is still a great group, where we can all learn from and help each
other, and to be honest the volume isn't as high as some other groups
I'm on.
