Ah, I would have gone to a seperate master which would translate between 485
and 232, I assumed 485 cards for PC's were very expensive and not easy to
integrate to 1U cases etc

Ah, I was assuming you meant not enough RAM in the PIC, dunno why as it
defintely says registers ;)
