Audiotron 30k limit/Streaming media (was SliMP3 Ethernet MP3 Player)

I mentioned the 30k song limit in the AT support list and have had the
following response.
It's a little bit too fanatical/hostile for me (an AT evangelist methinks
-
and you thought _I_ defended it!)
but the last paragraph is interesting and, for those of you that like
the
limitless-ness of the SLiMP3, but prefer the form factor/some other
feature
of the Audiotron, could be a solution to the 30k limit.

Obviously not a hassle free solution - and indeed, if I'm going to the
hassle of doing this, I may as well run the server side software for
the
rio/slimp/whatever :-/

Does anyone have any experience of shoutcast/icecast etc & how much
hassle
is it to set up?
Apart from the 30k limit (which I'm not approaching), the other thing
I'm
thinking is some way to stream digital radio from a psion wavefinder so
that
it is essentially a local internet radio station - sadly the UK
streaming
sites like virgin, x-fm etc go for a lo-fi approach and stream at
32k/22khz
or similar so digital radio knocks the socks off it.....

Anyway, here's the fanatics post - does anyone have any thoughts on
this.

ok, here's the deal... 

FACT = there is absolutely NO way you could efficiently pull off a truly
standalone player with an unlimited library size.  Keep in mind that I
refer to a 100% standalone player as one that relies on zero externally
running pieces of software (except for the storage server). 

FACT = I personally have around 8,000 songs and feel that that is a crazy
amount of music.  Thus, I label those with over 20,000 songs as folks
who 
have a trememdously huge collection of music.  And folks with over
50,000, 
well... 

Seeing that I write database software for a living, capacity is rarely an
issue, but effectively navigating/searching/filtering the data - 
ie, 'using' what you're storing - is the name of the game.  My point
here, 'using' a tremendously large collection of music via a 2 line LCD is
simply impractical, if not outright futile and silly. 

But, luckily, TB has given us a great piece of hardware and base software,
as those of you with tremendously large collections can very easily set up
a Shoutcast or similar server and a web server with request/DJ'ing web 
pages on it and you essentially gain the power of a virtually unlimited
capacity system, with essentially ANY interface you feel like putting on it
too.  All you then need is a nice PDA with wireless capabilities and
you 
should be set :)  In the end, you get everything that you all ask for,
as 
you can customize the web pages of your request server all you want, you
get unlimited capacity, you can stream ANY format of audio, and it is all
under your control.
