RE: (ukha_d) OT Sky Digiboxes
Not so sure about that one. Being an experienced user of defective
Sky boxes,
the engineers have always called Sky to make the switch - maybe that's just
the
quicker way of doing it so they can scoot off for a cuppa before the next
call.

You don't actually need to ring Sky. You can get at it through the
Installers Menu.
Go into System Setup. Press "0", "1",
"Select" and you'll get the
Installers Menu up. Then choose "6" for New Installation.
This allows the card to be associated with the box automatically (IIRC,
it dials Sky to do the work). It doesn't always work successfully - you
may need to try it a couple of times.
Cheers,
Steve

You should be able to ring sky and tell them you replaced the box
though.
What you can't do is swap a card between two boxes on a regular basis,
but I can see no reason why you can't get them to sort your
subscription
out to move itp ermanently to the new box.....
You need to ring the BBC I think it is to get the FTA card. I
think
there's a number in the tech support list you can bring up on the sky
box. Failing that, do a web search on sky digital abroad/for
ex-pats.
A lot of ex-pats get granny or whoever to get the fta card (limited to
one per address) and ship it over to them so they can get 'proper
english channels' and not just 'foreign muck'.
HTH,
Tony
