Well bare in mind when I bought the A310 back in 1987 it only had 1MB ram
and no hard disk.  By the time she got it, it'd had been upgraded to 4MB
ram, had an 80MB hard disk installed and had the process upgraded from an
ARM2 to a 33MHz ARM3.  Some of these upgrades involed things being soldered
onto the board.  Others use daugther boards etc.

Sometimes the machine doesn't start up and goes through a diagnostic phase.
To get it working you need to open the machine up and push down on some of
the chips etc. dry joints etc.

So its "nearly dead".  One day fidling with its inards won't
work.  Maybe if
it hadn't been upgraded so much, and still had all its original electronice
it would be much better :-)

Did I mention she can "just about" browse internet sites with
it.... :-)
