Ian,
Good stuff.
Since you're only allowing 1 of the valves to be turned on at once, I'd
consider adding a 1-of-8 decoder between HV and the relay board and
reduce the number of output lines required to 3. You also wouldn't need
to implement the single-valve logic in software either.
