RE: (ukha_d) Homeseer/CID/Meteor

Yes, HS does use the new voices for announcements.  Others have already said it,
but I will too - they are VERY good, especially when compared to the older ones.
AT&T are still due to release an English variant at the end of June as well,
though if it talks in a dodgy pigeon English accent that most Americans seem
convinced is how we all talk, I'll give it a miss!

The script is still fairly basic (though way beyond my abilities, hence why
Steve Hill wrote it for me).  If you have any additional feature requests, then
let me know and I'll pass them to Steve.  Some options currently being
considered:

* Pass the Meteor CID info directly to HSP, thus avoiding a whole bunch of
hassle (and potential time lag) with it going through HS
* Run events based on CID.  At the moment device codes can be issued, but that's
about it.  What I want is customised messages depending on the caller, though
I'm not sure that HS can react quick enough to detect the number, match it,
decide to send HSP a new outgoing message, answer the call, take message, reset
message to default greeting.

Having just acquired a Meteor unit late last week (thanks Justin and Brian
!), this post reminded me of the AT&T Voices thing that's come up in the past
on the list.

Does Homeseer use these voices to announce the caller?

One thing I am clear in my own mind is that I absolutely do not want a
'known' voice speaking to me in the house. I have long thought that if I ever
went down this route I'd ask a female friend (all the best SciFi computers
have female voices) if she had any willing female friends (!) who'd help out
with some recorded words/sentences on the understanding that I never meet
said person. Well, unless they look like Lexa Doig, all you Andromeda fans
out there.

I'm now looking at prices for this HomeSeer s/w.

Worked fine once I'd registered.
