Sounds like a good idea, I'll stuff an extra Cat5 cable in tonight

Thanks

CPC sell converter modules that fit in the space where the PP3 battery
would
be - they take 12V and provide a set of N/C relay contacts (p1507 of
their
2002 catalogue, order code SR00543 @ 9.79 ea).  This would take care of
the
HV side of things.

However, if when one smoke alarm is triggered you want the rest of them
to
sound as well, CPC sell linkable smoke alarms (as supplied these run
>from PP3) on p1504, Code SR03005 @ 13.25 ea.

Fit the 12V converters to the linkable smoke alarms and you should be
away...

Some years ago *aplins used to sell linkable smoke alarms and 12V relay
output smoke alarms (but not both in the one box), don't know what their
range has shrunk down to now though...

Just started decorating the upstairs bedroom and while I've got the
floorboards up for Cat5 and Power, SWMBO suggested linking the smoke
alarms, the current ones are cheapies from B&Q.
Can anyone suggest the best place to get this type from and model. I'd
like to connect them to HV at some stage. I've seen some that work from
12v I think and if so can I just use a Cat5e cable to power and connect
them - and then I can put another Cat5 cable in tonight and get the
detectors later.
