Show shifter doesn't really cut it either.. It just has more possibilty of
being *able* to do cool stuff..

Basically, I feel the need for my video recordings to be accessible from the
PC. (and not by using an analog video out.. sheesh you might as well just
use a VCR at that point) I'd like to be able to schedule recordings from
anywhere, inclduing my desk, so it would be nice if the PVR was web
accesible also.

Skipping adverts is a must, but using an *open* file structure and
compression system is also important. Season Pass or soemthing like it would
be astounding.
add multi-channel capability and a search engine capable of taking english
words and finding related scenes. an IMDB tie-in with cast info would be
nice too, and a hyperlinkable system so I can leave what I'm watching where
I am, and go watch the other thing this actor is in that I was thinking of,
then come back to here later, possibly in a few days.

oh yeah, and can it have my entire home dvd/video collection encoded for
instant access?

Like I said, I'm not that impressed by Tivo. but I have to admit, SS ain't
exactly floating my boat either...

Ian.

I was talking more about cobbling the other systems to it Ian, like IR
control.

What functionality do you want that TiVo doesn't provide and SS does?

M.
