Re: FIRM Pics + Questions

Hi Shane

Below is a recent recap from Dan on the communications between pc and
interface..

RS232 PIN OUTS

Pin 1 = DCD = ir rx input
Pin 2 = TX    = pc transmit
Pin 3 = RX  =  pc receive
Pin 4 = DTR = ir tx output (non modulated)
Pin 5 = GND

The pc interface also incorporates the 38khz oscillator

1. Send routine:
- PC send the zone code byte as:
1cc1zzz    where cc is the checksum and zzz is the zone, like that:
    Zone1 = 48h
    Zone2 = 59h
    Zone3 = 5Ah
    Zone4 = 6Bh
    Zone5 = 5Ch
    Zone6 = 6Dh
    Zone7 = 6Eh
    Zone8 = 7Fh
- PC waits for the FirM answer which must be the same byte with bit 6 reset,
means:
0cc1zzz, so for the 8 zones:
if the answer is not correct, then IRM consider that the zone has not been
updated correctly and do not send the command.

2. Receive routine:
- PS send char '50h' means WHICH ZONE
- PC waits for the FirM answer like that:
            Zone 1= 8h
            Zone 2= 19h
            Zone 3= 1Ah
            Zone 4= 2Bh
            Zone 5= 1Ch
            Zone 6= 2Dh
            Zone 7= 2Eh
            Zone 8= 3Fh

HTH
