RE: TiVo as a security Camera Recorder - a guide

For those of you easily frightened by technical blurb, it appears to be
essentially:

1. get a bash prompt going on the TiVo
2. Stick on ls, joe and a few other tools.
3. Set the date to some time in the past so Tivo doesn't complain about
guide data
4. Use the manual record option

Most of the guide explains how to do steps 1 and 2.
If you have fitted a turbonet card to your tivo then you should already all
the necessary tools on there, so you basically need steps 3, 33, and 36
onwards.

Two things would concern me about this:
1. To be of any use legally, I thought CCTV recordings had to show the date
and time?
2. If you could get tivo to display said date and time, they would be
incorrect and thus wouldn't the recordings would still be useless as
evidence?
