There isn't a +ve and -ve and you won't wreck you speakers by
connecting the speakers the 'wrong' way round. The connection
between the amp and the speakers carries a voltage which oscillates
about zero, not a voltage with a constant polarity.
The purpose of the different pins on the connectors is so that you
can connect both speakers in the pair so that they are both in phase,
i.e. if you were to apply a sine wave which is the same on both
channels then the drive units would be moving in the same directions
on the two speakers at the same time, i.e. out together, in together.
You can also hear when speakers are correctly wired in
phase. In
phase gives a well defined stereo image, i.e. the sine wave signal
would have a clearly defined position between the two speakers.
Out
of phase fails to give a proper stereo image: the position of the
sine wave signal would be indistinct and diffuse.
Just make sure that you connect the same amp pin is connected to the
same speaker connector on each channel and then do the stereo image
check to make sure you have it right.
