I tried my standard micro-link receiver in a number of places but still
had problems with stray IR signals from the plasma when 'bright'
pictures were being displayed.
So yes people do pay that sort of money (Well at least I have!) and I
have to say it has solved the problem completely! It is not the same
unit as the others, infact its 4 times the size! If you unscrew the
front bezel there are a glass filter (A bigger version of the ones on
the micro-link) and then another optical unit about 5mm thick. Behind
that is a board with 9 IR receivers in it. OK its overkill and I guess
is just clever optics but it does work.
Is it over priced.....UNDOUBTEDLY!

Many thanks

Hi Guys
The Receivers should work ok on the same cable as Pir,s as
already stated they are passive devices . Kens problem with the Dallas
stat i believe is due to the txing of the data to and from the dallas
chip...This also occurrs on my zone rx units when HomeVision transmits a
signal (or PC) to a zone the zone receiver picks up the induced
signal....Its not a problem for HV or PC as receive mode is not enabled
while transmitting therefore doesnt get detected...........
Had a look at the $800.00 Plasma compatible IR Receiver pics and i
would imagine its a standard xantech product but with another filter on
it...Do people really pay those prices???? I would do some
experimentation before even considering purchasing the unit............
