OT: Payments to the USA

I have some good I wish to purchase from the States.
The problem is the company is requesting a cheque, and my bank tells me tha= t
a Foriegn Draft cheque could take upto 2 months to clear overseas!!
I could possibly arrange a 'swift transfer' - but it costs =A320 and I have= to
get to a Bank to authorise in person - Difficult as i work all week meaning=
that the payment gets delayed another whole week.
Do any of you wonderful people know a quicker way to get the money to him safely? i.e US equivalent of Nochex?
